#LiveFashion with Stylist Jackie Turner

Fashion is built on foundation. In order to look good from the outside you have to start solid. Words of gold from Jackie Turner, an aspiring stylist out of Atlanta, fashion is her life... Turner is on a mission to become a personal stylist. Her goal is to help women who struggle with self esteem by showing them how to accent their true selves through fashion. Turner believes that when women are able to see themselves in a mirror how they see themselves in their heads, the positive visions, they can begin to accept and express who they are freely. Turner has had to over come obstacles in her own life and so her theories are from experience. Bullying and mean girls had been part of her every day struggle until she realized that she had a voice. Once she started to realize that she was in control of who she was and that she did not have to be what they told her she began to form her own personal style. Soon other people n...

3 Take Aways: The New Barbies Don't Hold Their Weight in Plastic!

The new Barbies are a backhanded gesture to all women and the kids suffer. Barbie is a toy, just a doll. Barbie's body isn't real. That fact puts everyone on the SAME playing field. No one has a Barbie body so no one can reasonably be offended by the lack of body types she comes in... Since there is only one... She is not fat and she is not skinny... She is not tall or short... She is just Barbie. 1. I went to the website to see these "new" Barbies. I found that the "Tall" barbies were tall and skinny(according to the new scale). The "curvy" dolls appear to be short. Tall and skinny to short and fat. The new Barbies push the tall/skinny and short/fat stereotypes.  Giving her a select few body types that are "realistic" cuts out EVERYONE who doesn't fit. My 6'1 non hour glass shape is not reflected in the "new" line up.  2. Some little girl is out there looking at her 5'5 apple shaped mother like, somethings wrong wit...

3 Take Aways: The Curvy Fashionista Swim #tcfswim

Sunday was The Curvy Fashionista Swim event in Atlanta, Ga. The event showcased beach wear for the full figured women.  @beccaetcswim @citychiconline @jibrionline @monifcplussizes @gwanbycharon @alwaysformellc  were some of the brands present This event is a breath of fresh air to the Atlanta plus scene. The plus community here is ready to support the industry and we want more events like this to attend. The "free" tickets sold out faster then a Beyoncé concert! Make sure you get on the mailing list so you can catch the next one.  1. Splish Splash The event was held literally on top of Atlanta. The view from the 16th floor of the W hotel in Midtown was spectacular and you could see it all while relaxing in the pool. I love water so this was right up my alley! The swimsuits that the guests wore were fun and people were actually IN the water. 2. For me!? The giftbags were off the chain! We got jewelry from LiveLavishAccess, Band-aids J. Crew style, hair products from Dr.Mir...

3 Takeaways: Arden's Closet Sip and Swap

This past Sunday I attended another edition of Arden's Closet Sip and Swap. Nikki Lee and Nedra Phillips are the founders of this event and they have out done themselves. Each swap is more then the last and this one definitely took the CAKE!! It was held inside of LiviRae's Lingerie store, setting of Lifetime's Double Divas Reality Show, in Kennesaw.  1. Cake cake cake cake cake cake!!!!! The desserts featured this time around were absolutely scrumptious. Homemade chocolate and vanilla twinkies are enough to get me out the house. The spread is always tasty, but these twinkies took the CAKE!! 2. Good Vibes The ladies in attendance were all very personable and fun. It's wonderful when a group of women can get together and have a good time talking and laughing. The overall tone of the event showed that everyone was there to have a good time. Walking in I felt a little run down from my crazy week, but by the time I left I was full of energy and ready to keep going.  3. And ...

COUNTDOWN: 4 days till FFFWEEK!!!

4. Shoes. First I will start off by saying that my excitement is almost unbearable right now. With only 4 days left to FFFWEEK the mad dash to get everything together is on overdrive. Ok, back to shoes, choosing the right pair can make or break your outfit. A bad choice can also break your poor feet. Unless you are paying for curb to curb car service be prepared to walk, a lot. There are a ton of  flat styles that are trendy and comfortable for the summer.  a. As far as I am concerned flats are the only option.  With all that walking and movement I'm going with total comfort here. Flats can be very fashionable especially this season. I love the gladiator sandals that have been popping up this year.  b. A simple but glam black flat is a staple for every woman's wardrobe. They are easily matched, stylish, and comfortable. I always keep a pair or two of black flats in my lineup. I love the ones with gold or silver accents. And Ilove the pointed toe styles.  c. Last...
