I attended the Plus Positive Summit this past weekend in Atlanta, Ga and I had a good time. The summit focused on how to be empowered when it comes to business and also how to make sure what is being seen of you by the public is positive and well put together. This was the first year Plus Positive has done a summit and I attended all but one event. I look forward to seeing what they come up with next year.
Here are my top 3 take away moments from the event:
3. Make up!!!
Make Me Over - Personal Makeup Application
This workshop was taught by Stacey Compton-Maga of Creativ Chameleon.
I love make up and anything to do with it and I trust only a few makeup artists with my face. I came into this workshop skeptical because I think I know everything about makeup. ;) I was pleasantly surprised by much I learned from Ms. Compton-Maga. She was professional and informative. My biggest take away was about learning my skin tone and how it could change with the season and also how to manage my skin and tell whether I'm oily or just giving a youthful glow*. I would definitely allow Ms. Compton-Maga to do my face and I thoroughly enjoyed her workshop.
If you have a chance visit her website www.creativchameleon.com for more info about her.
2. Panel with Male Input
Empowerment Luncheon
I'm always up for a panel and the Celebrity Panel during the luncheon was awesome. LaKrisha Baker, Keke Simpson, Debbie Shannon, and Dave Tolliver were the celebrities included on the panel. The topic of the panel was "Present Our Best Self" and they focused on ways to do this in your personal and professional life. The panel was informative and entertaining, but the reason it made this list was because of one of the tangents. In the audience was Tiffany Jones Keaton, editor and chief of Pose Magazine, and her husband, recording artist, Eliah... As the conversation turned to relationships these two shared one of the most beautiful stories of love, trust, and faith I have ever heard in my life. You definitely had to be there to get the full story, but it involved an empty house, a toy keyboard, a delivery, and a couple that has been happy and successful ever since. Thanks for sharing!!
1. Facing Reality
Now to the NUMBER 1 moment of the summit. Facing Reality, a spoof of a reality dating show played out live on stage. The cast of this production was HILARIOUS!!!! I literally filled my phones memory trying to capture all the good moments, and the last time that happened was when I saw Eric Roberson at FFFWEEK earlier this year. Here are some of my favorite clips: (as I deleted all the video I had accidentally I will post pics instead)
